How to play Canfield Solitaire

Use the rule sheet as a reference. Complete four suited foundations beginning at the dealt base rank and wrapping king to ace. Select cards directly on the tableau and work through a full solo deal. The same rule applies on a phone and on a computer. Look at the complete hand before deciding. Build tableau runs down in alternating colours, wrapping ace to king. Reserve cards refill empty columns automatically. Take the next action only when the current step is clear.

Thirteen reserve cards, four columns, draw-three recyclable stock. Free solo play, no wagering.

Take a closer look while playing

For a calm first round, focus on one decision. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot. Return to the explanation when a decision is unclear.

What you are aiming for

From the start of a round

  1. Build tableau runs down in alternating colours, wrapping ace to king. Reserve cards refill empty columns automatically.
  2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
  3. Move exposed cards onto suit foundations in the stated rank order.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Your inputs

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Use another round to revisit a decision. Treat this as a chance to practise one rule.

Follow the example

With base rank 5, a foundation runs 5 through king, then ace through 4. Take the next action only when the current step is clear.

One detail worth checking

For a calm first round, focus on one decision. Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Use another round to revisit a decision.
